Abstract
Due to recent medical advances and environmental influences, the number of disease deaths has decreased. However, the number of deaths or injuries from injury gradually increases. Therefore, this study aims to compare and analyze school injury in kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high schools by school class level. The data used in this study was from the Korea National Hospital Discharge In-depth Injury Survey by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, and 1,381 cases were selected from the data for the last ten years, from 2010 to 2019. School-related damage is a case where the damage occurred at a school, playground, or play facility while the activity was being taught at the time of the damage. The statistical analysis used the STATA 17.0 program. For analysis, weights were applied by reflecting the contents of complex sampling. Frequency analysis, Pearson's chi-squared test, and ordinal logistic regression model were performed. As a result of the study, most cases were males in elementary school. In the spring, unintentional falls were the most common, and upper extremity injuries were the most common. The higher the class, the higher the damage caused by self-injury was 137.4%, the probability of collision was 70.9%, wounds 74.3%, and other injuries 53.6% compared to injuries caused by a fall. This study is meaningful in providing implications for safety education and preventive measures according to each school by comparatively analyzing school damage accidents by school class level.
